Symplex
Compression is designed to provide the fastest, most reliable data compression
available today.
In addition to its low latency and low CPU cycle consumption,
Symplex Compression algorithms run with variable table sizes in order
to maximize compression for your specific application and environment.
Symplex Compression gives you lossless compression and
exact reproduction of your original data. The Compression Engine constantly
adapts to the data passing through it. Tables never get stale or become
full.
In addition, compression decisions can be dynamically
adapted on a packet-by-packet basis to maximize compression and minimize
latency.
Symplex Compression also contains configurable settings,
making it possible for you to adapt compression decisions to better match
your typical data patterns.
This compression technology was first released in 1983, and has been refined
and enhanced over many years. It has an installed customer base of more
than 1500 customers which includes about 40% of the Fortune 1000 companies.
To incorporate Symplex Compression technology into your
products, we offer the following options:

Faster
and Better
When compared to industry standard STAC (HiFn) compression using the well-known
Calgary corpus data set, Symplex’s Compression produces the following
results:
- Compression
engine executes 3 to 5 times faster
- On
hard to compress data (2:1 or less), compression achieved is roughly
equivalent to STAC
- On
data that is easier to compress (greater than 2:1), compression achieved
may be more than twice that of STAC
